Tasmania Roadtrip - Week 3 - Queenstown

Just outside town the Lyell Highway winds up through the mountains to a couple of lookouts definitely worth a visit. The evidence of the devastation caused by the early mining activities is everywhere. But as they point out, we can't do without the copper, tin, zinc, iron, gold, silver, lead that has been produced on the West Coast by 5 generations of miners. Thank goodness modern mining practices have improved.
